summer maybes

s u m m e r

the season of warmth and sunlight and freedom

it's always been the one that i looked forward to the most

but for some reason
this year
it's not

maybe it's because of the whirlwind of change
as everyone's growing up
and soon nothing will be the same

i don't know

maybe it's because in the fall i'm going to be a senior
and when the next summer rolls around
nothing will be the same

i don't know

maybe i'm just not someone who copes well with change

{who am i kidding
we already knew that}

but the sun is shining
and mornings are slow
and adventures are coming

and despite all of the maybes
i can feel that familiar excitement begin to stir

s u m m e r

the season of late nights and messy hair and living

maybe it will be okay

  3. Wow, I totally feel you this summer. It just doesn't feel as wonderful and freeing as summers past have. I think it is, like you said, the reality of being a senior next year and just everyone one else around me getting jobs and trying to fit our schedules together so that we can do stuff together. It stinks because you realize you're getting closer to being an adult, but I think that is when you start to really find the goodness of God; when you are faced with difficult change in life. I'm no longer a kid and that makes me so sad because I have to defend for myself now.

Thanks for this post, I really feel you. But God is faithful and this summer will bring a lot of growing in Him, I know it.

  7. It will be ok, Grace. Enjoy the summer while everything is just a tiny bit like the past. I get it, I hate change too, but I've learned that I can't live what's going to happen, I have to live in what is happening.

  15. UGH I FEEL THIS. as someone who hates change, I'm procrastinating on summer (aka college things) as much as I can, but in the end, I'm going into it with an open heart and an open mind, and if I fail, I'll know I did the best I could. <3 LETS DO THIS TOGETHER
