Lately

Hello, lovelies! I feel like I haven't been super active here in the Blogger world lately, and although you may know a bit about what I've been up to lately if you follow me on Twitter or Instagram (there's some shameless self-promo for ya), I thought that I'd pop by in between classes and lunch and do a little wrap-up here on the blog of what life's been looking like lately. ♥

-----

Reading- a ton of Mary Higgens Clark books. I'm currently on my third one this month! I really love them, they're so suspenseful and well-written. I'm also looking forward to reading Cursed Child soon- I got it for Christmas, and have been anxiously awaiting reading it! Bible-wise, I'm finally on Romans, and I'm so excited- it's probably my favorite book of the Bible.

Watching- the time literally slip past me. I've been so used to the calm and peace of winter break, and now life has gotten SO incredibly crazy, it's kind of overwhelming. I'm constantly thinking of new things that need to get done.

Writing- so many journal entries. I haven't journaled consistently in about a year, but one of my New Year's resolutions was to get back into it, and I'm so glad that I'm doing it. I really love journaling so much.

Trying- to remember all of the choreography that I've shoved into my brain. I'm the assistant choreographer for our middle school show, and it's so much fun, but a bit stressful. I'm such a perfectionist that I think my biggest concern is just not doing a good enough job.

Cooking- ....nothing. I literally haven't cooked or baked in so long, it's kind of pathetic. Maybe I'll try to make something on Sunday when I have some free time.

Eating- too many chocolate chip cookies and probably not enough fruit.

Drinking- water and coffee and coffee and water, maybe with a cup of coffee (or water) on the side. I've come to the realization that coffee really is the only way that I'm going to survive junior year, and  seeing as I've got a ton going on, I'm really trying to stay healthy and thus chugging water 24/7.

Calling- ...no one. The only person that I can remember calling in recent days is my grandma. I should get better about calling people more frequently.

Texting- the handful of friends that I talk to every day.

Tweeting- about how crazy excited I am that ED SHEERAN RELEASED NEW SONGS!!!!!! I literally cannot contain my joy. Y'all, if you haven't listened to Castle on the Hill yet, what are you even doing with your life????? GO LISTEN TO IT.

Pinning- not much, honestly. I haven't spent much time on Pinterest in a while.

Crafting- a plan for a new journal to track blog stuff. I'm really excited about it, but kind of nervous?? The OCD is so real, y'all.

Doingmy best not to get lost on campus again. The first day back to school, I got SO lost. (Which wasn't entirely my fault because my schedule was giving me a class number that didn't exist, sooooo....)

Going- to so many rehearsals that it's blowing my mind. Tuesdays and Sundays are my only truly rehearsal-free days.

Loving- SNOW! We got about five inches of snow over the weekend, and I cannot tell you how happy I was to be able to stay inside and read while looking out my window at that winter wonderland. (Literally what I was doing when I took the photo up top.)

Hating- the fact that the snow is melting, boring English classes, and not getting enough sleep.

Discovering- how much easier life is with a clean room, and how much journaling really declutters my mind. Honestly, I'm getting to the point where I'm realizing that I'm so much more sane if I just write everything down.

Enjoying- long snowy weekends inside, the chance to sleep in, and gigantic, fuzzy blankets.

Thinking- about when I'll have the chance to hang up some photos that I just got printed, and also when I should schedule my next blog post for.

Feeling- overwhelmed and tired but excited for so many things.

Hoping- that I passed my Spanish exam. Goodness I hope that I passed that.

Listening- to Castle on the Hill on repeat. I'd love to know how many times that I've listened to it so far because IT'S A LOT.

Celebrating- a couple of birthdays last week, and the fact that I don't have classes on Monday thanks to Martin Luther King Jr. day. I'M SO EXCITED.

Smelling- the body spray that I accidentally sprayed in my room. I'm now completely unable to get rid of the scent.

Thanking- heavens that coffee exists, and I don't have any Spanish homework this week.

Considering- the best way to convince a group of kids that the fake hatchets that they're dancing with should NOT be used to whack each other with.

Starting- to think about what I should eat for lunch.

Finishing- this post!

  5. I'm the same way about journaling! I don't do it super often, but I love it when I do it.

I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on Cursed Child! I've been hesitant about that one for a while. I'm currently reading the Durarara series by Rhoygo Narita :)

  11. ROMANS!!! ED SHEERAN! school.

Life is so busy. Wonderfully, stresfully, excitedly busy. I feel you. But in reading this, something came to me. Grace, I remind you that God gives you the permission, the freedom, to rest in Him even when we're busy doing so many things. Embrace the busy season with joy because that's where you are. I struggle so much with wanting to be somewhere that I'm not, and so I discredit the busy season and think of it as a chore when there are so many moments to /live/ in.

Give yourself the permission, as I have to do, to enjoy even the busyness.

"It is for freedom that Christ has set you free. Stand firm, then, and do not be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." (Galatians 5:1)

  16. Oh my goodness, the Cursed Child!!! I got it for Christmas, too, and it's such a fun read if you love the Harry Potter series. And Romans is so rich! I love chapter 8 in particular. A great place to be! And I love that you're making a new blog journal. I have one, too, though it needs some updating....but let me just say, blog journaling is the best! You will love it. :)

Also, this summed up me to a tee:

Discovering- how much easier life is with a clean room, and how much journaling really declutters my mind. Honestly, I'm getting to the point where I'm realizing that I'm so much more sane if I just write everything down. #relatable
