Summer Beauty Reviews

Wednesday, July 13, 2016

I decided that today I'm taking it back to my roots as a beauty blogger. (If you haven't been around long enough to remember that point in time..you should probably be glad.) Even though I don't seem to post about makeup as much as I used to, I'm still a huge beauty junkie. Honestly, it's probably a bad thing at this point. I've been cleaning out my room and I have WAY too much makeup. I need an intervention.

Anyways.

In the past couple of months I've acquired quite a few new products, and I figured I'd do a post reviewing them!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Rimmel London Kate Sculpting Kit

For my spring show, we had to have a contour/highlight kit. Being the procrastinator that I am, I picked this up about a week before the show at a sketchy Walmart at like, 9:00 at night because I didn't have any other time to go. That was fun. I LOVE the highlight and blush in this, although I'm not a huge fan of the contour color. I think it's too warm for my skin tone, and it's hard to contour with powder, in my opinion. You really need cream. But I adore the highlight and blush, I still use them daily!

Revlon Liquid Colorstay Skinny Eyeliner

I believe that this was another thing that I picked up for a show, although I think I got this one for Aladdin, the first show. Guys, I LOVE this eyeliner so much. Liquid eyeliner definitely isn't my strong point, but this is one of the best eyeliners I've ever used. The tip is super skinny, which makes it easier to be super precise. Also, for such a tiny bottle, you get a lot out of it- I still haven't run out, and I use it almost every day. LOVE.

Covergirl Full Lash Bloom Mascara

I actually can't remember when I got this mascara, I think I had just run out, so I picked this up. Definitely not my favorite mascara. It's not bad, just not one that I would pick again.

ELF Duo Eyeshadow

This was actually an eyeshadow that I received for Christmas from my grandma. Lately, I've gotten SUPER obsessed with it. It's such a nice color combination, and I really like how it goes on. My only note would be that the lighter of the two colors can occasionally be a bit splotchy if you don't blend it well. Otherwise, I love this eyeshadow!

Wet n' Wild Coloricon Brow Pencil

Yet another product from a show! Being a blonde, it's never a bad idea to have a brow pencil on hand, and I really like this one a lot. It's a good color, light enough so as to look natural but pigmented enough to do its job.

Aussie Hair Insurance

I picked up this heat protectant spray a while back, and whenever I actually remember, I use it before I style my hair with heat. I'm not really sure how to know if it's working or not, but my hair hasn't fried off yet, so I'm assuming that it is. Plus, it smells really good, so sometimes I just spray it around my room purely for the scent!

Sleek & Shine Flat Iron Straightening Mist

I'm pretty sure that I've squealed about this before, but I'm going to do it again. I LOVE THIS STUFF. It really does help to make my hair straighter, and it smells AMAZING. Like, I'd wear it as a perfume. Also, if you have a bunch of frizz, you can spray a ton of this on the frizzy areas and brush it out, AND THE FRIZZ IS GONE. Literally, miracle product.

Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama

Honestly, I'm only reviewing this as a warning to you all. Otherwise, I wouldn't even bother. DO NOT BUY THIS MASCARA. It's legitimately the worst mascara I've ever tried. I received it in a beauty box, and I really hate it. It just clumps your lashes together. Definitely don't waste your money on this.

NSPA Exotically Creamy Coconut Rich Body Butter

This is another beauty box product, but I actually liked this one. It's a super creamy, soft body butter. I love it. The only thing is that sometimes coconut gives me a headache, so I can't wear it very often. I wish that it was vanilla or even scentless. Otherwise, I love it!

  1. I'm pretty lazy when it comes to makeup. I don't go anywhere important without wearing makeup but I never wear very much so it usually doesn't even matter. But the main thing I do wear with makeup is mascara and let me just say Smashbox mascara is sooo great. It's easy to use, helps your natural eyelashes rather than making new ones for you, and it stays on really well so when I make the mistake of reading depressing Odesta fan fiction I don't need to worry about crying black tears.

But I TOTALLY get you on clumpy, awful mascara. My mom's mascara is the WORST and I've never been able to apply is successfully.

    1. I seriously need to try Smashbox! Is it ridiculously expensive? Because anything that won't make you cry black tears when reading fan fiction sounds fabulous to me.

Life is just too short for bad mascara.

    2. Come to think of it, every time I've run out it's by either my birthday or Christmas so I just get it for a present. I don't know how pricey it is, but I don't think it's outrageous.

  2. I'm still trying to figure out how to apply liquid liner without looking like a racoon. :D Any tips?
These look great! I will have to try them out! :)

    1. Liquid liner is a beast. XD It took me ages to figure it out! Honestly, a lot of it is just practice. I still can't consistently do a wing. But just for an everyday look, I would say never do black on your waterline (that helps avoid the raccoon look), and then just be SUPERRR careful to use a tiny tip and go as close to your lash line as possible. You'll get the hang of it!! Let me know how it goes!

  3. THAT STRAIGHTENING SPRAY IS BAE. I ran out of awhile ago and totally forgot to get more. what am I doing with my life. Didn't know you could just spray it on without straightening! Agh, now I need it even more. Also, brb, buying that liquid eyeliner!!!!!!!!!!! I've been wanting to get some, but I'm always scared to spend money on one if I don't know it'll work well. Thanks for that ;)

    1. IT'S THE BEST. Like okay it doesn't totally straighten your hair, you still have to flat iron it. (At least I have to, but my hair is ridiculously wavy/curly so if your hair is straighter than mine it might work.) But if you do it while your hair is wet, it does make it a lot straighter, so it's less work with the heat. Ooh, happy to help!!! That one's definitely good, and I think it was fairly cheap? Like five or six dollars. :)

    1. I'll warn you, it doesn't completely straighten your hair, you'll most likely still need to straighten it with heat, too. But it will probably make it a lot easier!

  6. I don't wear makeup on a daily basis, but when I do where it, eyeliner is always my least favorite part (because I suck at applying it xD), but I really want to try that liquid eyeliner!! I love ELF, I have a bunch of their products, and I haven't had any problems with them!
Loved this post! Five stars x)

    1. Eyeliner is TERRIFYING. Whenever I do the little girls' eyeliner for theatre, everyone knows not to get anywhere near me because I'll jump and mess up and then totally freak out XD Not that I'm easily stressed or anything what no. Elf is great!!! They're one of my favorite brands. (Although not a huge fan of their mascara tbh).
      Eek, thank you!!!!!! XD

    1. It totally calms down frizz! Doesn't completely straighten everything, but it helps a TON. Plus it smells like joy. Haha! Makeup is a scary little beast, isn't it?

    1. Ooh, I may have to try it! Do they have it in an extremely light shade? I'm so pale that it's sometimes difficult to wear powder that has any color to it. XD

Hmm, good question!! I've been a fan of the Maybelline Colossal in the past, but I'm actually in the process of finding a new mascara right now. I'll let you know if I find a really good one!

    2. Yes! I am super pale too like its not even funny xD I love it because it doesn't really tint your face a lot it just kinda sets your face makeup :) Oh yeah! Definitely let me know!!
