Books I Want To Read This Summer!

Friday, July 3, 2015

Hello everyone! Gosh, it feels like summer is flying by. But hey, there's another month, so I might as well enjoy it! The other day, I decided to make a list of all of the books I hope to finish before the end of the summer- I've got lots of reading to do!!

1. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

I'm one of those weird kids who actually likes English class, assigned reading, and classical literature. I haven't had the chance to read Wuthering Heights for a class, so I'd really like to read it over the summer. :)

2. Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie

If you know me outside of the blogosphere, then you know that I absolutely love Peter Pan. But somehow, I've never actually gotten around to reading the original novel. My sister owns a copy of it and everything!!! I've just never read it. This is one book that I DEFINITELY need to read this summer!!!

3. Graceful by Wendy Mass

I don't think that I've ever blogged about this before, but one of my favorite book series to read in the summertime is the Willow Falls series by Wendy Mass. When the last book, The Last Present, came around, it was very bittersweet because I LOVED the book, but I was really sad that the series was over. So, imagine my surprise when I found out that Wendy Mass had written ANOTHER book in the series!!! I. Am. So. Excited.

4. Mary Poppins by P.L. Travers

You all know how much I adore Julie Andrews, so naturally I love Mary Poppins. And the Broadway musical is absolutely amazing- the music is incredible!!! I've never read the original novel, however, so of course it's a must-read for this summer!

5. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling

I know, this has to be a sin. But growing up.....I never read the Harry Potter series. *hides*
I honestly can't believe that I never read it, but it was just never something that interested me when I was younger. Over the past six months or so, though, I started to read them, and I. Am. Obsessed. I'm dying to read Deathly Hallows, even though I know it's totally going to crush my soul.

6. To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee

This is yet another classic novel that I've never read- but I really want to!! I've heard that this is a fabulous book, and I plan to find out for myself!

7. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Yep, another classic. How have I never read these books?? Oh well. I love the twenties, and I'm super excited to devour this novel!

8. The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks

I know, I'm probably crazy to want to read this because I've heard it's horribly sad. But I'm really interested to at least try it out.

9. Divergent by Veronica Roth

I know, something else I haven't read. I'd really like to try it though, I just have never managed to make time to read it!

What do you plan to read this summer? Tell me in the comments below!

  1. I've never read Wuthering Heights but I read Jane Eyre (you should try that one!) and watched the movie (which was actually a decent adaptation) and loved that. There was a book I saw on Goodreads about the Bronte sisters (Charlotte and Emily). It was fictional, but it got really good reviews, so I kind of want to read that.

    Yeah, Harry Potter was the series I grew up reading. The Deathly Hallows is probably my second or third favorite (The Chamber of Secrets will always be my favorite though). And yes, it will crush your soul. It crushes everyone's soul (;

Ugh. I loved the Hunger Games books and the movies and Divergent is supposed to be similar. My older sister read the first two books in the series and loved it. I got the book before the movie came out and read it… or tried to read it. I couldn't get into it at all, which was pretty weird because I was almost determined to like it. Yeah, so I didn't like it, but I hope you do! If you like series like that at all you should try the Legend series by Marie Lu. I love those books (: And if you haven't tried reading The Hunger Games because its what EVERYONE was reading and it seemed to cliche I recommend you at least try to read it. I usually don't like reading the same things that everyone is reading and there's a huge hype over it but they're still good books.

Not sure if you got a chance, but did you read any of the books I recommended a while ago? Its cool if you didn't, my friends NEVER read what I tell them to haha

  2. Oh my goodness, Jane Eyre is actually one of my all-time favorite books!!! I've read it four times XD *gasp* a story about the Bronte sisters?!? I'm in!!!!

Agh, I'm really excited to read Deathly Hallows!!! Even though I know it will make me totally depressed.

Huh, that's interesting that you didn't like Divergent. I think it's one of those things that you either love to death or just really don't care for. I guess I'll just have to try for myself!! Hunger Games is another series I'd really like to read. I've never gotten around to it, not because it's too mainstream, I just always seem to have something else to read haha;) I haven't heard of that!!! I'll have to add it to my to-read list!

Oh my gosh!!! I COMPLETELY forgot!!! Agh. As soon as I finish typing this, I'm going back to that comment and writing them all down to look up haha!! I meant to look them all up when you recommended them, but I was drowning in life at the time and I never got he chance. Thanks for reminding me!!!

    1. Okay the book is called Always Emily by Michaela MacColl.I didn't see any reviews under four stars, so it looks pretty good.

Its depressing but a really great end to the series. Unlike DoD, which was depressing and a horrible end to the series!

Yeah, it varies from person to person I guess. It just didn't catch my attention. Yeah the Hunger Games is a lot better than people make it out to be. People are usually like, "Its a bunch of kids trying to kill each other, that can't be a good book." but theres a lot more to it.

Haha I get that. You're welcome.

    2. Awesome!!! I'll have to look it up!

Yeah, that's what I've heard. DOD- worst ending ever. Can't wait to see how HP ends!

I really do need to read the Hunger Games. It's been on my list to read for a while, I just haven't picked it up yet. There's a really good used book sale near where I live pretty soon, so I may pick up a copy then.

      :):):)
