Weekly Wrap-Up

Sunday, April 24, 2016

Hey everyone! How are you all doing? I think that the best way to wrap up the past week is a happy blur of insanity. It's been really fun, but boy, has it been crazy!!

I already told you that I spent last weekend out of town, which was great, but coming back I've had a ton of stuff to catch up on, which has been stressful. Add in a couple of rehearsals and prom, and it was super busy. It was really great, though- rehearsals are always fun, and PRAHHHM. Oh my gosh guys. It was so, so awesome. I'm working on getting a post up telling you all about it, but for the time being, I'll just say that it was an absolute blast. Literally love prom so much- it's like, the highlight of my spring.

The next week is going to be even crazier than the past week, but yet again filled with a happy sort of craziness, so I can't say that I mind. My goal is to NOT go totally MIA here on the blog- fingers crossed! Worst case scenario, I'll still be active on Instagram, so y'all can always find me there.

All that to say, here's a glimpse into my life lately. : )

Made Me Smile:

Kind of obvious, but PROM. Gah. So much awesomeness.

Getting my first manicure this week. It was really fun, and I'm obsessed with how my nails look now.

I had a really good writing day today and got two chapters done. *dances around the room eating chocolate*

Two of my classes only have two more weeks left! *happy dance*

Awesome photos from an awesome day.

Ugh:

Compare/Contrast essays. I honestly hate them.

My life is so crazy lately that I've had to miss a lot of ballet classes and so I have a ton of makeup work to do now.

Graduation is in a little over a month and a bunch of my really good friends are graduating. *sob*

So I made these funfetti bars this week, and I've made them at least four or five times before. It should have been a cinch. But for some reason this time around, they would not cook in the middle, no matter what I did. I put them in the oven like, four times, and they still wouldn't cook. *sigh*

Loving:

Warm weather. I finally got rid of my flannel sheets this week and I love being able to wear shorts and a tank top.

Lukas Graham music. <3 They're so good.

The fact that I have three really awesome books requested at the library and I'm finally going to get some reading done.

I'm going to be able to exempt my Anatomy final. My happiness level is through the roof.

Not one but TWO posts on Olivia's blog this week. <3

Getting out of twenty minutes of class because some people had to make up a quiz.

Pinning:

I pinned this, and then a friend of mine also posted it on Instagram. Like..wow. I want to re-read Anne Frank's diary.

This eye makeup is absolutely stunning oh my word.

This lift is so gorgeous oh my word.

Um #outfitgoals right here.

Pinterest's Best!

Friday, April 22, 2016

Let's be real, guys- I love Pinterest. I really love Pinterest. It's so much fun to scroll through the tons and tons of hairstyles, recipes, and random cat photos. Last summer, Hannah did a really great post called 10 Most Useful Pins. I've decided to do something similar today, showing you all some of my favorite pins!

This actually inspired my prom hair! Mine didn't turn out half as gorgeous as this one did, but I love it.

I cannot tell you how many times I've made Bubble Pizza. It's so simple, and it's delicious!

This is one of my favorite techniques to wing eyeliner- it's super simple!

Heaven knows I need to be more organized. This pin has some great tips!

This pin saved my mom's Christmas gift. I made her a wooden sign, and this pin was super helpful!

This tutorial is actually how I taught myself to do fouette turns! It's amazing.

This article is one of my favorites on iphoneography. : )

These are really simple but good reminders.

This is a really great workout!!

Hopefully you found some of these pins helpful! What are some of your favorite pins?

Beach Weekend!

Wednesday, April 20, 2016

Hello! Sorry that I've been a bit MIA on and off. I don't really have a solid excuse, except to repeat what everyone in the blogosphere seems to be saying lately- life is crazy.

Over the past weekend, I got to get away for a bit to have a well-needed break. My family was invited to a wedding in Myrtle Beach, SC, so we got to go down there for a bit. It was absolutely wonderful. It was exactly what I needed!

We headed down first thing on Thursday morning, and made it to the beach in time for a late lunch. One of our favorite places at Myrtle is River City, so we decided to go there. It's the BEST- if you ever are in the Myrtle Beach area, you definitely should stop by. The food is amazing, and it's just a really cool environment- they have big buckets of peanuts, and the walls are lined with license plates. You can write wherever you want- on the walls, on the doors, the tables. There are hundreds and hundreds of signatures and messages written all over the restaurant, and it's really cool to look at them.

Isn't this place just the coolest? And the food is fabulous. If I lived at the beach, I'm pretty sure I'd gain ten pounds just thanks to this restaurant.

After lunch, we headed to the hotel, and grabbed some doughnuts on the way for breakfast. I have a love affair with Krispy Kreme.

We unpacked really quickly, then headed to the beach. We had a lovely adventure that consisted of a twenty minute struggle to figure out where on earth the beach access was. Like, we were debating whether or not we would have to go through the woods to reach it. Honestly it was sort of hilarious. BUT WE MADE IT!

The beach was SUPER windy, but it was so nice to be out there. I love the beach so much. I can really see myself living at the beach at some point in my life. The dream would be to have a house on the ocean where I can write and be an introvert to my heart's content, haha!

We did a ton of beach walking- like, four miles. Then we headed out to dinner. We really like Ultimate California Pizza at Myrtle, which is actually owned by the same people who own River City. When we GPS'd it, however, we ended up next to some tiny ice cream stand and were told that the place didn't exist. Ummm okay then... We found another one, though, so it was cool haha.

Their pizza is seriously the best. I love it.

Our plan for the next day was to go to the beach, but we only lasted about thirty seconds. It. Was. So. COLD! It was about fifty degrees outside, the wind was around 17-20 mph, and being next to the ocean- it was far too cold to stay on the beach. I thought I was going to freeze to death! So suddenly, it became a shopping day.

We decided to go to the Coastal Grand mall, and it was pretty successful- I ended up with a dress and a pair of shoes! They had a ton of shops, so it was really fun to walk around and just explore. I found a bunch of interesting-looking books in Books A Million, so I can't wait to see if my library has them! I have this weird thing about not wanting to buy books that I haven't read before, because I'm scared I won't like them. Weird, I know, but it's how I am!

These are the shoes that I found- aren't they the cutest?

That night we had a dessert party, which was fun- chocolate cheesecake was involved;) Gosh, I feel like all I do is talk about food lately. I swear I'm not as unhealthy as I sound.

The next day was our big beach day- we spent most of the day on the beach. Not going to lie, I was absolutely freezing for about 3/4 of the day. It wasn't as bad as the previous day, but it was COLD! I was wearing leggings, a t-shirt, my dad's sweater, and a hoodie, and I was still cold. The rest of my family was fine, though, so apparently I just don't handle nature very well.

That night was the wedding. It was a really nice ceremony, and the venue was gorgeous. The reception was also really fun- any time that I get to dance to Footloose is a good time!!

We had to go home the next day, but not without squeezing in a few hours on the beach, first. It was the best weather that we had all week- of course our best weather is the day that we go home. I loved the several hours that we spent out there, though- they were great.

After that we began the sad trek back home. But hey- there are still lots of exciting things at home, and we can always go back to the beach! I can't wait until we do. : )

Life lately has been more insanely busy than I could have possibly imagined, and quite stressful, to be completely honest with you. I feel like I'm losing my mind about 95% of the time, and some different things haven't been going too well. BUT, there have been lots of little good things happening as well, and I'm trying to focus on them as opposed to the negatives. (If you know me, you know that I'm not exactly the most positive person, so this is a bit of a stretch haha). All of these things I listed have been making me quite happy. : )

Also, for just a moment of shameless promo, in case you missed it, I did a really fun guest post over at Silver Mess as a part of Rachel's April Avenue series, and I'd love if you'd check it out...

The Text Tag!!

Sunday, April 10, 2016

(Image creds to Ava)

Aaliyah over at Growing In His Image nominated me for The Text Tag! This looks like a lot of fun, I'm excited!!

- - - - -

Guidelines:
i. Thank the person who nominated you and give a link to their blog
ii. Answer the original 6 text-themed questions
iii. Add a typography/word related question of your own for those you tagged to answer
iv. Tag 6+ bloggers and let them know
v. Include these rules in your post

- - - - -

Questions:

i. What is your favorite letter of the alphabet?

My favorite letter...I've never really thought about that! Hmm. Probably "A". I don't really have a favorite though, so it's kind of random.

ii. What are three words that you love?

Lovely, graceful, and bibliophile.

iii. What are three words that you hate?

Moist, nausea, and geometry.

iv. If you were to create a word, what would it be, and what would it describe?

I honestly have no idea. I feel pathetic.

v. What are your three favorite punctuation marks?

; ! .

vi. What are three of your favorite fonts?

Any brush font, Didot, and Kaiti SC

vii. (Question from Ava) Do you prefer writing on paper or typing?

It totally depends on what I'm writing. If it's school related, then typing all the way. But if I'm writing a note/letter to a friend, or making a list, or doing general brainstorming, then I prefer to write on paper. Basically, if it's fun, then I prefer paper. ; )

viii. (Question from Aaliyah) What do words mean specifically to you?

I have an absolute love affair with words. The fact that they can be strung together to create such beautiful works just fascinates me. I also much prefer the written word to talking, because I feel like I have the ability to be much more eloquent. Words are one of my favorite forms of self-expression; I don't know what I'd do without the ability to write. All this to say, I adore words.

My question to the nominees: What is one word that means a lot to you?

My Nominees:

I also nominate YOU!!! If you do this tag, leave a link below in the comments and I'll check it out!

Stress-Relief Playlist!!

Life is stressful, isn't is? Lately, I've been hiding away with earbuds more and more, trying to drown out stress. These are some songs that tend to give me an instant feeling of calm and happiness as soon as I hear them- hint: there's lots of Ed Sheeran! Hopefully some of these songs will make you as happy as they make me. : )

What songs calm YOU down? What have YOU been listening to lately? I WANT TO KNOW!!!

Happy April!

Friday, April 1, 2016

Happy April, everyone!! How in heaven's name is it already April? I really can't believe it. TIME I'M BEGGING YOU COULD YOU JUST SLOW DOWN A LITTLE? IS THAT REALLY TOO MUCH TO ASK??

March was a good month, super fun and exciting, despite being extremely busy and stressful. We had our first show, and it was so amazing. I miss it so much!! It was one of the best shows that I've been a part of in a really long time. I was running around like a crazy person- I was dance captain, stage crew, helped with hair and makeup, and ended up being in two numbers. But it was so, so much fun.

The show really took up most of the month. Before I knew it, Easter rolled around! Then we've been on spring break the past week, which has been really nice. Having a chance to unwind and get some school done, hang out with friends, etc., has just been a great break from everything. I wish that it could last longer!!

April is going to be absolute insanity. I'm exhausted just thinking about it. I have another show coming up, that I'm a part of. I'm in the ensemble, and it's going to be so much fun, but rehearsals will be intense. Prom is also this month, as well as a wedding. Add school, friends, and a bunch of family stuff on top of that and I'm going to be drowning! I'm excited, though. It'll be a fun month. Just super crazy. If I get supremely  a little behind in the blogging world, that's why!!

Speaking of which, I'm not exactly sure what April will hold, blogging-wise. I have a couple of posts worked up, but I don't have a full schedule yet. Hopefully I'll get that together in the next few days. I do have a couple of exciting things coming up, though, that I'm hoping you'll all like! My goal is to get more than eight posts up, despite the busyness. The last two months I've only done eight, and I'd like to do more than that. So we'll see how that goes!!

- - - - -

Resolutions time...yikes.

-Get further into NCIS- Well, I don't remember where I was in the series at the beginning of the month, but I've reached the season one finale! So I guess that's further in.

-Make a stricter blogging plan/schedule- I did make a schedule for March, although it wasn't quite as concrete as I'd have liked. Hopefully I'll make a better one for April.

-Get caught up on school- Ha. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha *cries*

-Start sharing posts from my trip to New York- I WAS SO CLOSE! I literally have a post drafted it just didn't make it out yet. *sigh*

-Write 4 more chapters of my novel- THREEEE. I WAS ONE AWAY. *drowns sorrows in leftover Easter cheesecake*

-Start hand lettering again- I didn't letter a ton, but I have done a bit, which is nice. Hand lettering is always so relaxing, I love it. I wish I had the time to do it more often!

-Get into a better exercise regimen- Psh. I wish. Which, I've been going to so many dance rehearsals that I guess that's a pretty good amount of exercise. I'd like to get into yoga again, though, so maybe I'll try that this month.

- - - - -

Now, April's resolutions!

// Publish at least one New York post

// Publish at least nine posts here on the blog

// Get caught up on school (*prays*)

// Start doing yoga again

// Reach 45 followers..I know that follower count really doesn't matter, but I've had a few more awesome people join lately, and I'd love to hit 45 this month!

// Read at least three books for fun

// Journal more regularly
