Shoe Organizing 101!

Sunday, August 31, 2014

'Alright, I can do this.' *takes deep breath*

"Hi everyone, my name is Grace Anne, and I have a shoe obsession. But I'm doing better! I only bought eight pairs last week!!"

I have to admit, sometimes it sure feels like I need a support group for me shoe obsession! But all I really needed was a way to organize them! ( And no, I did not buy eight pairs of shoes last week. I'm not THAT bad. Yet. Now, jewelry obsession, we'll talk later....)
So, I've been majorly struggling with how to organize all of my shoes, and overall, I've been failing. Shoes have ended up all over my house! In my closet, scattered throughout my bedroom, next to the door, on the stairs...basically anywhere that it's possible to find a shoe. I've tried different systems, but nothing's really worked. Finally, one day my mom was looking at Target online, and she found this amazing over the door hanger for my closet and ordered it. I've had an over the door hanger in the past, but it just wasn't big enough. What do you think of this one?

I think it's fabulous!! It has a TON of space, (enough for 32+ pairs of shoes) and they're all organized neatly in my closet without taking up much storage area! You can store almost any kind of shoe, from sneakers, to flats, to boots to heels! I'm absolutely thrilled with it. There's even some room for extra shoes! You know what that means....shopping!! ;)
So what do you guys think of it? Let me know in the comments!!

What do you think?

Saturday, August 30, 2014

So, you guys have probably noticed my new blog look- what do you think? I spent FOREVER this afternoon trying to get it just right, and I'm pretty excited with how it turned out! :) I've been working on it on and off this week, but I couldn't figure out how to do it until today. So, what are your opinions? Do you like it, or did you prefer the old look? I'd love to know your thoughts! Comment below to LMK what you think! :) <3

My Love For Scented Sanitizer Is Eternal

I admit it. I'm obsessed with scented hand sanitizers. But then again, who isn't?? There are tons of different scents at Bath and Body works to choose from. I always get excited around Christmas, because I usually end up acquiring a few from stocking stuffers! :) Plus, the germaphobe in me loves them during flu season- they kill germs AND smell good? What more could I ask for?! Plus, you can get those adorable little plastic grips, so that you can attach them to a purse or backpack.

Ooh la la! So cute! <3

Yep, it's a cat. Because cats are amazing, that's why!

I ADORE the Sweet Clementine, and the Pink Chiffon smells absolutely ah-MAY-zing!! What are your favorite scents?? Comment below! :)

Bobby Pin Power!!

Thursday, August 28, 2014

Aren't these cute? A sweet friend gave these to me, and I adore them! I love embellished bobby pins like these, they're a great accessory to add to a simple hairstyle to jazz it up a bit. Perfect for those school mornings where we're too late to do anything fancy hair-wise, but still want to look cute. Just add them to a braid or ponytail, and there you go! Adorable! I added them to a fishtail, and I love how they looked. :)
What do you guys think? Cute, huh? I think it's super cute! :) Do you guys like it? LMK what you think!

Orientation/First Day Nails!!

Wednesday, August 27, 2014

What do you all think of this color? I wore it both for Orientation and the first day of school. :) Sorry that it's a bit chipped, I've had it for the past three days, so I have a chip here and there, but I liked the color too much not to post a picture of it. It's Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear 405: Coral Reef. I love Sally Hansen polishes so much!! <3

How I Get Ready For School In 40 Minutes!

Hey everyone! So, first off, I'm so sorry I couldn't post yesterday! My goal was to post every day this week, but that didn't exactly work out... I went back to school today, so yesterday was a frenzy of getting ready!
So, I know that it can be hard to get ready in the mornings, especially for us girly girls who want to do hair, makeup, etc... I get stressed out about it pretty often, to be honest! However, I'm usually able to be out of the house in forty minutes, so I thought I'd share some tips for you all on how to spend as little time as possible getting ready, so you can get some much needed sleep!!
The Night Before-

-Get your backpack ready (yes, I know we've heard this since first grade, but it's true. Just look at it this way-every minute you spend on finding that silly essay is one less minute of sleep!)
-Do any hair prep you can. I always wash my hair the night before, and if I'm able, I like to go ahead and straighten it as well. That way, all I have to do in the morning is minimal touch ups, or adding something small like a braid. Saves you about ten minutes!!
-Think through what you're planning to wear. I'm not asking you to lay it out, (although if you're one of those super organized people, go right ahead. I'm not...) just start thinking it through.
-SET YOUR ALARM!! DO NOT FORGET!!!!!!!

The Next Morning-

-Force yourself out of bed as soon as the alarm rings. Please, don't hit snooze! You WILL fall back asleep. It's worth it, trust me.
-Head downstairs to grab something to eat (quickly!). I try to spend as little time as possible on food, because I never seem to be hungry in the mornings. If you drink something like coffee, tea, or hot chocolate, go ahead and make it and then bring it to your room with you. You can drink it while you get ready/in the car.
-Daily things. Wash your face, (please!!! Be kind to your skin!!) brush your teeth, put in your contacts, etc. Get those things out of the way first.
-Decide what to wear and get dressed. I always to this first, so I can see what the outfit looks like before I start working on hair and makeup. Don't forget to accessorize!! :)
-Makeup. Ladies, I know we tend to love to play with every color on that eyeshadow palette, but when you're rushing for school, it's just not the time. If you really want to do that, get up five-ten minutes earlier. Otherwise, I usually schedule about fifteen minutes for makeup. Mascara, eyeliner, foundation, a touch of eyeshadow, fix your eyebrows, and add some Baby Lips, and you're good to go! I should do a tutorial of my everyday makeup sometime. Anyone interested? Comment!!
-Hair. Now, if you did as I suggested, your hair is already nicely straightened! Congratulations! You may have to do some minor touch ups, but that's about it. You now have a bit more time if you want to play with some fun braids or twists. If you didn't do your hair the night before, just schedule a bit of time. I'm able to do it in about fifteen minutes, if I'm planning to curl or straighten it. Just realize that it DOES take time, and account for it!
-Anything last minute. Now's the time for that quick spritz of perfume, to grab your wallet or phone to fix any last minute makeup, and you're out the door! Congratulations! You're ready for school! Should I congratulate you or console you? I'm not quite sure. Oh well, you're ready!!
I hope that this helps you! Do you have any tips for those rushed mornings? Comment below!! :) <3 I love hearing from you!

My Rucksack!! :)

Monday, August 25, 2014

Isn't this a cute bag? I got it for my birthday over the summer. It's an American Eagle bag, but my mom found it at Payless. (They sell AE stuff there) I wish that I could use it for school, but I'm homeschooled and go to a twice a week co-op, and we don't have lockers. :/ Thus, I can't carry a six pound chemistry book easily in this bag. If you had lockers, however, I would TOTALLY recommend a bag like this. I'm going to use it for my dance and drama classes, because it's easily large enough for that. Stay tuned for later this week, where I'll post what I carry in my backpack!! :) Any back-to-school blog post requests? Let me know in the comments!!! :)

Are You Ready For School?

Sunday, August 24, 2014

So, are you guys ready for school? I know I'm not! I'm starting this Wednesday, so I'm getting prepared! School supplies, clothes and more are all on the mind. I have the feeling that you all are just as stressed about all of this as I am, so I'm going to be posting lots of Back to School themed blog posts!!! Any requests? Comment to let me know if there's anything that you'd like me to cover! :)

These Hair Ties Have Stolen My Heart- Have They Stolen Yours?

Friday, August 22, 2014

This spring, I discovered these little elastics of joy. Suddenly, they were everywhere! In people's hair, on their wrists, in their purses- I knew I had to try them. They. Are. Amazing. I love them so much! They don't crease your hair AT ALL, which is a breath of fresh air if you're a dancer like me. You can even make them yourself, if you can find the ribbon! So far, I'm unable to find any, much to my dismay. :( Oh well! Until then, I'll just keep loving the ones that I have! They come in so many cute patterns and colors. I find that sometimes I have a bit of trouble keeping them in my hair, but a few well-placed bobby pins quickly fix that! I also love just wearing them on my wrist.

Cute, right???

It's totally socially acceptable to wear this many, right? No? Oh. Well, this is awkward.....

So, do you guys use these? Let me know what you think in the comments!!!

Keep Calm and Dance!

Isn't this shirt cute? It's from Delia's, just like the sweaters, but I ordered it online instead of getting it in store. The most amazing part was the price- this shirt was on sale for, get this- four dollars!! Isn't that awesome?? I thought it was a fabulous deal, especially for such a cute shirt!! :)

❀ Mascara ❀

Wednesday, August 20, 2014

Hey everyone! So, these are the two mascaras that I use basically on a daily basis. The yellow one is Maybelline Volume Express: The Colossal. This is my favorite of the two! My mom picked it up for me last time I had a show, because mine didn't get my lashes large enough for what I needed. You can get one from Target for about six dollars. Let me tell you, the title doesn't lie- my lashes are AMAZING after using this mascara! I am able to get them really large and full of volume, which is amazing. :) The bluish- purple one is Maybelline Volume Express: The Rocket. I don't like it quite as much as I do the other one. It does a really good job of separating your lashes, but you don't get quite as much length or volume as you do with The Colossal. I also am not a huge fan of the Rocket's brush. The bristles are REALLY short, and it's easy to accidentally stab yourself in the eye. Gosh, that hurts.... so take it from me, if you get The Rocket, BE CAREFUL!!!! I like using the Rocket first, for separation. and then using the Colossal to add a bit of length and volume. When I do that, my lashes are so great!! :) Which mascara do you guys use? Let me know in the comments!!!!!

Flashpoint Review- NO SPOILERS!!!!

Monday, August 18, 2014

So, I wanted to write a review of Flashpoint that was spoiler free, so that those of you who don't want to read the spoilers, but still want to know if it's a good book, will have something to read! :)
First off, I want to say that I was really happy with this book. I felt like the characterization was great! Everyone was very much themselves, which I'm sure is welcome to everyone after reading Day of Doom!
I've heard several people say that after Day of Doom, they stopped reading The 39 Clues, because they were so disappointed. If this is you, I only have one thing to say- go get some books and start reading!!!! I myself was a bit hesitant after Day of Doom, because I was really unhappy with a few parts of it. I've been a fan for so long, though, that I decided that I'd give it a shot. In my opinion, I felt like this series brought everything back on track. This book added two new couples to the mix, so you'll definitely want to read to find out just who those are!! If you've been reading the series, you'll also definitely want to read to find out who April May is- a big shocker! There are also some very interesting character turnarounds that I thought were great. :)
I have to warn you, depending on which characters you like, you may be just the slightest bit traumatized by this book. ;) I know that I was! Chapter Nine, the chapter of heartbreak….
Annnnyways, don't let my dramatic nature stop you from reading this book! In fact, what are you waiting for? Go find a copy, and start reading!! Let me know what you guys think in the comments, and feel free to ask if you have any questions! :) <3

Flashpoint Review- WARNING! MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!!!

This post may contain affiliate links.

That's right guys, I read Flashpoint! WARNING- If you don't want to read spoilers, I'm also going to post a spoiler-free book review right after I finish this post. But if you want to read this version, hey, I won't judge! Maybe you somehow got a copy like I did early, and want someone to rant with. (In which case comment on this post- I will be happy to rant! Trust me, I have a lot to rant about with this book…) Or perhaps you're one of those people who just doesn't care. I've always wanted the book to be a surprise, but I've known people who like to read summaries before reading the actual book, so if you want to, by all means, read ahead!
So, I have to admit, all in all, Flashpoint was a pretty good book. Gordon Korman is on of my favorite 39 Clues authors, so I was all too happy to see that Flashpoint was going to be written by him. The book begins with Dan being held by Galt and Cara Pierce in their helicopter. (The very helicopter that killed Pony. Still not over that!!!) He's interrogated with truth serum, until he knocks himself out with chloroform. You go, Dan!! He wakes up once they land, and is able to escape with the help of…drumroll please… Cara Pierce! I was quite impressed with that.
While all this is going on with Dan, everyone else is on a plane, looking through Pony's computer for new information when they find that Pony was tracking something- or someone- on Pierce's plane. Any ideas on who/what? I was quite shocked…
Before I go any further with what's going on with Dan and Amy, let's check in on Sammy and Nellie. They're still imprisoned in Trilon Labs, but they are starting to gain the upper hand, through Nellie's fabulous cooking. She has become the chef, and who knew just how much more people will like you if you serve them some good French desserts? Meanwhile, she and Sammy have a master plan- they're going to blow up Trilon Labs.
Back with the rest of the Cahills, everyone is in Cambodia, trying to find the last ingredient in the antidote- Tonle Sap snake venom. They have to find this last ingredient- and fast- because Amy's symptoms are getting worse and worse. (I'd just like to say, really Amy? Really? Taking the serum? I know she was trying to save Dan, but I just can't help thinking there had to have been another way…) She's starting to have awful hallucinations, that are getting more and more distracting. Jonah and Hamilton go to a crocodile farm in hopes of finding the snake, which apparently used to be used to feed the crocodiles. It's not used anymore, due to the snakes being close to extinction, but there happened to be one in the water. The only result of Jonah and Hamilton's attempt, however, were two very wet boys who are probably banned for life from that crocodile farm…
This chapter was possibly the most heartbreaking in the entire book, at least for me, anyways. I am a HUGE Amian shipper, I have been ever since the third book. (Jamy fans, please don't kill me in the comments section…) I mean, they were always just SO cute! Plus, I think that they're really meant to be together, since Ian changed because of Amy's influence. When she saved him from falling off of Everest, something just clicked. She helped him to become a better person, the person that he is today. I also think that they really should be able to connect with each other. They've both dealt with an insane amount of grief and loss to only be 16. Amy lost her parents, and feels responsible for the deaths of Evan, Natalie, Erasmus, McIntyre, and many other people, and Ian lost his entire family through Day of Doom. Thus I think that they both have a pretty good idea what the other is going through. All that to say, in my mind, Amian is the perfect couple. So that's why Chapter 9 absolutely broke my heart. Ian is at Angkor Wat with Pony's computer, trying to find out what Pony was tracking. Suddenly, Pony's laptop starts to be wiped, and Ian sees a girl sitting outdoors on her laptop typing furiously- she's obviously the person who is wiping the laptop. It only takes him a split second to realize who it must be- April May, the mysterious hacker, the only person in the world with hacking skills that rivaled Pony's. As Ian confronts her, however, he realizes April May's true identity- Cara Pierce!!!! That's right guys, April May is Cara!!! I'd wondered about that, but I hadn't really been sure. Turns out, Pierce has no idea that his brilliant hacker is his own daughter. She's done all this secretly, because she realized that she couldn't trust her father anymore. In talking to her, Ian sees that she's just like him- struggling with the fact that she has to betray a parent, trying to change. Exactly the position that he himself was in two years ago. Ian is in love. This girl is, in his words, 'practically his soul mate'. So as of this book, Amian is probably never going to happen, and I'm heartbroken. I'm really quite happy for Ian, but I just don't think it's right. Amian used to be such a major thing, and even in the last three books, there were still little signs of it. But now Amy has Jake, and Ian has Cara. I know this is horrible, but I was almost hoping that Cara would get killed off in the battle against Pierce. (FYI, she doesn't….) I kind of felt the same way about Jake, so I don't really know what to think. There's still going to be one more series, and I don't really know what I want to come out of it. Should they stay the way they are? I suppose that Jake and Cara could be killed. It wouldn't really surprise me, but I kind of doubt that the writers would do that. Unfortunately, I think Jamy might be here to stay. :( I can't say it would bother me if they were killed off… (again, Jamy shippers, please don't kill me!) What do you guys think? I don't have anyone to talk to about it, since none of my friends read the books, so let me know your opinions in the comments section!!!!
Within the next few chapters, Galt terrorizes the Cahills, chasing them with his goons everywhere that they go, and Nellie and Sammy are still working on their plan to blow up Trilon. I have to say, Galt, in my opinion, is a really annoying character. He's basically a Tomas on steroids, which gets really old. It's just chase, chase, chase. He never uses any skill, which bothers me. Then again, I'm half Lucian, so I guess that's why. The Cahills end up having to be rescued from Galt by none other than Cara herself, and they also manage to find the snake, which was in Ian's shoe. (He wasn't too thrilled about that!)
Amy really doesn't trust Cara, but she agrees to let her come with them. Amy insists on tying Cara up, but she escapes in the middle of the night- with the snake! Everyone panics, until Cara walks in with the snake in a nice new aquarium, ties herself back up, and plops onto the floor. It's a really funny scene, but I think it was a great way for Cara to prove her trustworthiness.
Back at Trilon, Nellie and Sammy succeed in blowing up the lab, with Dr. Callender in it- a total plus! Before they accomplish the task, Sammy tells Nellie just how much he cares about her, and Nellie gives him a kiss. Ah, a couple that I'm actually okay with! I think that Sammy and Nellie are really sweet together. :)
The Cahills fly back to the States, so that Sammy can create the antidote in a hidden underground lab at Harvard. The antidote creation is a success! There's only one problem- Amy refuses to take it. She says that she wants to have the benefits of it as long as she can to help defeat Pierce. Jake is totally against it, but Dan sides with Amy. They need all the help they can get. The only fear is, will Amy live long enough to take the antidote?
The antidote was tested on Fiske, thus saving his life. I was soooo happy! I was certain that he would die in this book, so I was thrilled that he lived.
Amy is given flying lessons, so that she can operate a crop dusting plane to deliver the antidote in a spray form to Pierce and his goons at the clambake on Pierce Landing, where Pierce is planning to announce his run for presidency. Meanwhile, Dan goes to visit Saladin, who's staying with Aunt Beatrice. Aunt Beatrice is a huge Pierce fan, (figures..) and she mentions to Dan that Pierce was madly in love with Dan's mother. Pierce never got over Hope, so he of course hates all of her descendants.
Finally, the time has come. It's do or die. Dan, Ian, Hamilton, and Jonah sneak onto Pierce Landing much before all of the guests arrive, and hide in a shack. Amy, Jake, Atticus, and Sammy are on land, preparing the crop duster with enough antidote. When Jake and Amy take off in the plane, Jake tries to give Amy the antidote, but she slaps it out of his hand. He's absolutely horrified. Will she live long enough to even get the plane to Pierce Landing?
During the flight, Amy's muscles stop working, and she's unable to fly the plane. Jake has to take over, and is alright with Amy guiding him. They spray the clambake with antidote, but Amy then passes out. Jake hastily injects her with antidote, but it might be too late. The plane crash lands in the water, and Jake desperately tries to keep himself and Amy afloat. They are both about to die, when Amy wakes up. Relieved, they both begin to stroke for shore.
Back at Pierce Landing, everyone is panicking. Those who don't know about the serum and the antidote have no idea what was just sprayed over them, and they're petrified that they've been poisoned. Pierce is furious, and Debi Ann is able to use his fury to humiliate him with the cameras all watching. His run for presidency is ruined, but he still has another plan. He runs into the house, with the Cahills and Cara following close behind. He sets off a timer for six nuclear bombs to go off all over the world. The Cahills have a mere five minutes to figure out the abort password. With two seconds remaining, they discover the password- HOPEOLIVIA, after the girl he always loved.
With Pierce defeated, everyone is able to return to their lives. Jonah begins touring again, with Hamilton as his manager. Amy and Dan decide to take some time off, and finally travel- without being chased. And as for Ian and Cara, they are running Cahill Headquarters together back in Attleboro.
I have to admit, although my heart was shattered *tears*, this was a really good book. After Day of Doom, I was thrilled to read a series finale book that was actually good! I can't wait to see what the next series holds in store! :) Tell me what you all think in the comments section!!!! <3

Hey everyone! So, I'm not posting anything today, because I'm currently in the middle of a bunch of things for you all. :) Working on reading Flashpoint (*tears*) so that I can review it, and also typing up this cool sock bun tutorial for you guys to enjoy! Well, back to my work! ;)

❁ Remington Hair Straightener ❁

Friday, August 15, 2014

For the past few months, I’ve been desperately wanting to have straight hair. My hair is naturally very wavy, and sometimes those waves do NOT want to cooperate! Sigh. My hair and I do not tend to get along. Annnyways, so after trying several non-heat methods, I knew that I had to just get a straightener. I picked one out for my birthday a few weeks ago, and I love it! I got the Remington T Studio Silk Slim 1”, and it’s worked great! It was about $25 at Target, and I feel like it was well worth it. (Have I mentioned my love of Remington hair products? They. Are. AMAZING! They work just as well if not better than the high end $100 products!!) My hair is about medium thickness, and I’m able to straighten it in about 10-20 minutes. After I’ve straightened it, it usually lasts until I wash it next, so I can keep it straight for a day or two. So great for those typical bad hair days. ;) I also am trying to learn how to curl my hair with the straightener, so once I master it I'll post a tutorial for you all. :) So, do you guys have any tips or tricks for hair straightening? What's your favorite straightener? Leave a comment below!!

♡ Remington Curling Wand ♡

Have you always wanted curls, but never been able to get them just right? That was my problem for several years. I tried foam rollers, I tried braiding my hair overnight (just a tip-don’t do that! It might work for some hair types, but mine isn’t one of them!), and I tried using a curling iron. Nothing would work! Sure, I might have curls for a few hours, but by the end of the day my hair was right back where I started. Then a friend of mine mentioned how she used a curling wand on her hair, and how great it held. I knew that I HAD to try it! After quite a bit of online research, I ended up with a Remington T Studio Silk Small from Target for around $20. I thought this was a pretty great deal, because a lot of the wands I saw online were anywhere from $50-$150! I think mine works just as well as any of the high-end ones. I can curl my hair in the morning, and still have curls late that night. I can even sleep on the curls, and they’ll still be there the next morning. I’ve been really happy with it overall. Sometimes my hair gets a little frizzy when I curl it, but I can usually fix it by using a bit less hair spray, or some anti-frizz serum. If you're looking for cute curls, this wand is the thing to get! I'll post a picture of how my hair looks after I've used it sometime soon. :) Do you guys have any good curling tips, or perhaps you found a great wand of your own? Let me know in the comments!! :)

Baby Skin

Thursday, August 14, 2014

Have you guys ever tried Baby Skin by Maybelline? I saw it at Target a few weeks ago with the Baby Lips for six dollars, so I thought I’d give it a try. I put it on before my liquid foundation, and I have to use a lot less foundation when I do. It also does make your pores noticeably smaller, which is always fabulous! Sometimes I feel like it's a bit heavy/greasy on my skin, but other than that, I love it!

Sweet Sweaters

So, these two sweaters also came from Delia’s. I really like them both, they’re
super cute with a tank top underneath! Love the holey texture :)

Foundation :)

Wednesday, August 13, 2014

So, for the past few months, I’ve been using CoverGirl Tru Blend liquid foundation and loose powder, and I have to say, I really like it! I use the Ivory liquid, and the Light powder. The liquid foundation does a great job of hiding redness and blemishes, and the powder finishes the look off. I got them both at Target (kind of funny just how much of my stuff comes from Target!) for about six dollars each. I’ve been using it for a while, so I feel like it was well worth the money. Love it! <3

39 Clues Announcement- FLASHPOINT!!

Tuesday, August 12, 2014

Oh my goodness guys, I have HUGE news! Now, I don't know about you, but I'm a major fan of the 39 Clues books. (yes, they were initially meant for younger readers, but hey, they're good. Don't judge.) Anyways, I've been a fan for a few years now, and I've been counting down the days until the last book of series 3 came out. So I was at a local bookstore that typically resells used books, and I was just browsing around when my sister points out something on a table. I honestly think when I saw it, I nearly passed out from excitement- it was the newest 39 Clues book, Flashpoint, THREE WEEKS EARLY!!! I don't know how it got there, but I'm so happy it did! Someone working there said that the publisher could have sent a few copies early, so maybe that's how they got it. I also noticed a typo on the back, (They said that a 16 year old character was 15) so maybe it was a batch of typos? I honestly don't know. There were only two there, so I grabbed one! I haven't had a chance to read it yet, (I'm honestly a bit nervous. Please don't kill my favorite characters!!!) but when I do, I'll be sure to post a review of it for you all. I'm still so shocked that we actually found it!!! :) Haha, I don't think I let it out of my sight for a few hours after we got it! Let me know what you guys think in the comments!

Baby Lips Love

So, who here loves Baby Lips?? I’ve recently tried them, and they’re amazing!! I’ve only tried two so  far, (yes, only two. I know- so many more to try!!) and I love them! My first one was Cherry Me, which is probably my favorite flavor. The only problem with it is, I have pretty fair skin and blonde hair, and Cherry Me is a hot pink lip gloss, so it’s kind of bright to wear every day. I love it every now and then for a great POP of color, but I knew I had to find one that fit my coloring a bit better, so a few days ago I went to Target and picked up my latest Baby Lips, Peach Kiss. It’s a great flavor, and I feel like it’s a much more natural look for my fair coloring. I can’t wait to try some more!!
